Angel Station was released in 1999 by Pandemonium in Europe and Merge Records in USA. This was the first release on labels which were to become long term partners of Spaceheads. (Pandemonium later became Bip Hop)
Angel Station is a journey, a paradise of a route from trumpet mouthpiece to speaker through loops and distortions, always throwing the listener off in unexpected directions, always with a sense of purpose.
Dynamic and melodic. A tech -heads heaven of sunshine fanfares and psychedelic grooves. Mostly recorded over the last year. the CO is a mixture of live recordings in various studios, cut up and constructed into 15 tracks. The result captures the spontaneous nature of the spaceheads’ live sound.

You can feel the surprise and excitement of Invention as Andy and Richard drive head on into the unpredictable directions that live looping and sampling take them. This music has bones and sinews and thoughts crashing around inside it.
After the opening rumble of a train pulling into the station, destroyed by the trumpet, spitting venom from speaker to speaker, “electric gypsyland” comes crashing in powered by a motorik drum beat. We have left music as we know it behind. This is all the things music should be but rarely ever is. 73 minutes of loop bending brass from the pulsating “one way system” to the cool jazz intoning of “Magic in the space age”. The journey finishes as a london tube train clatters its way out of Angel Station.
